Certificate in IT Systems


This is the academic equivalent to Year 1 of a UK university honours degree and is recognised by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) as Level 4.


Modules
This course comprises three compulsory modules:

  • Information Systems Main topics include:
    • Systems Analysis and Design
    • Database Systems
    • Data Analysis And Management
    • Systems and Organisations

  • Software Development Main topics include:
    • Software Development Process
    • Fundamental Programming Concepts
    • Input and Output
    • User Interface Design

  • Computer Networks and Technology Main topics include:
    • Number Systems
    • Hardware
    • Software
    • Networks
    • System Performance Measurement

Examination

Course Structure

Students will attend lectures, tutorials, seminars and group study sessions at the college. In addition, it is expected that at least 2 hours each day will be spent in private studies. Classes will vary and will include class-based instruction; self-study using computer assisted learning strategies, writing assessments and practical work in the labs.

 
Entry Requirements
The applicants are expected to have:
  • A standard of general education equivalent to the UK GCE A level.
  • An IELTS score of 5.0 or above
