Course description:

  • The intensity of developments in global healthcare demands new managers and leaders who understand the effects of rapid change in their environments.  This Postgraduate Diploma in Health and Social Care Management draws upon insights from practical contexts and from the extant literature.  Throughout the programme delivery, students will embrace knowledge of management theories, concepts and frameworks.  The thorough examination of the way in which those philosophies, ideologies and values shape our understanding of leadership, improvement and innovation, and how these theories relate to, or be useful within a healthcare context.
  • Students attend lectures, tutorials, seminars and group study sessions at the college. In addition, it is expected that at least 2 hours each day will be spent in private studies. Classes will vary and will include class-based instruction; self-study using computer assisted learning strategies, writing assessments and practical work in the labs.

      • Managing service delivery
      • Managing your enterprise
      • Personal and team effectiveness
  • Assessment is conducted through multiple methodologies to ensure quality and will include coursework, reflective reviews and resentations.

Holders of the Postgraduate Diploma are able to proceed to:

  • MBA in Health & Social Care (University of Wales)

Entry requirements:

  • Eligible candidates will be expected to satisfy one of the following requirements:
  • A first degree in business related subjects from a recognised university or institution.
  • Degree in nursing from a recognized university or Institution
  • HND plus minimum 2 years managerial experience
  • 3 year nursing diploma (Asia) plus minimum 3 years managerial experience
  • Students with a first degree, but not in a business domain, must have at least three years management experience.
  • English proficiency of CEFR level B2
  • Minimum age 18

Course description:

This award is aimed at leaders and managers working in: residential services for older people; residential services for younger adults; residential services for children; domiciliary care services; day services and community based services; adoption and fostering services. The key purpose of this qualification is to develop the skills of managers to lead and manage an excellent service that promotes and safeguards the wellbeing of individuals and their development. This course assists senior staff within health and social care settings to meet regulatory requirements.

    Promoting professional development
    Championing equality, diversity and inclusion
    Developing health and safety and risk management policies procedures and practices
    Working in partnership
    Plus optional units
  • Assessment: For this qualification, you’ll learn in a classroom or in your workplace. You’ll be assessed at work. For each unit your assessor watches and asks questions as your perform a task, or they may look at a portfolio of work that you’ve built as formal evidence of your learning. Then they confirm you’ve got the skills to do the job well.
  • Total Credits: 33 - 80
  • QCF Level: 5

Course Structure:

Holders of this qualification shall be able to proceed to a top-up BSc in Health Care Management at a collaborating partner university.

Entry requirements:

  • Have two GCE A- Levels and four GCSEs at Grade C or above, two of which must be in English and Maths or
  • Equivalent QCF level 3 qualification in a related area.
  • Must have work experience in Health & Social Care sector
  • For applicants whose educational medium is not English, a level of CEFR B1 or above is required
