British Citizenship Testing

Life in the UK

Being a British citizen doesn't mean you have to lose your own identity. There will, however, be things about life in the UK that you should know about before you become a citizen.

That's why the Life in the UK Test has been introduced. Studying for and taking the test will give you the practical knowledge you need to live in this country and to take part in society.

The test contains 24 questions on life in the United Kingdom and will last for 45 minutes. It's based on chapters 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the handbook 'Life in the United Kingdom: A Journey to Citizenship', which you can buy from large book stores.

Don't worry if you don't pass the test the first time that you try it; you can try again when you feel ready. There's no limit to the number of times you can take the test.
